"Turn Up The Music" is the first track of the soundtrack, Lemonade Mouth.

The song was written by Adam Watts, Andy Dodd and is performed by Bridgit Mendler in the movie Lemonade Mouth.

Background[]

"Somebody" is written by Adam Watts and Andy Dodd and produced by Bryan Todd.[1] Musically, the song is prominent pop rock that runs through an pop oriented beat. Mendler's vocals span from the low note of F♯3 to the high note of E♭5.[2]

Critical reception[]

Bob Hoose of Pluggedin said that "Turn Up the Music" is sunny and, ironically, pessimistic song, because it portrays the reality of teenagers when speaking of the uncertain future and freedom that music brings.[3] The Disney Dreaming commented that the song is a "super catchy beat and fun lyrics" and also adorable, humorous and encourages listeners to hear the rest of the album.[4]

Chart performance[]

The song debuted, and peaked, at number 12 on the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles. In the Kid Digital Songs "Turn Up the Music" peaked at number 18.[5]

Lyrics[]

[Intro]
Na na na na na, na na

[Verse 1]
Take a look around
Who would have thought we'd all be here?
So let's mess around
Cause the future is unclear
We got nothing better to do
We're just trying to get through
Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?
Yeah

[Chorus]
Let the music groove you
Let the melody move you
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
When we're stuck and can't get free
No matter what, we'll still be singing
Come on, come on

It's all we got
We're gonna use it
Come on, come on

Yeah

[Verse 2]
All we have is now
Let's make the most of this
Come on break it out
So everyone can hear it
They don't have to understand
But we'll make them if we can
Do you hear me?
Are you with me?
Yeah

[Chorus]
Let the music groove you
Let the melody move you
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
When we're stuck and can't get free
No matter what, we'll still be singing

Come on, come on

It's all we got
We're gonna use it
Come on, come on

Yeah

Come on, come on

It's all we got
We're gonna use it
Come on, come on

[Chorus]'
Let the music groove you
Let the melody move you
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
When we're stuck and can't get free
No matter what, we'll still be singing

Come on, come on

It's all we got
We're gonna use it
Feel the beat and just let go
Get the rhythm into your soul

[Outro]
Let the music take you
Anywhere it wants to
Come on, come on

Yeah
